I DON'T BELONG HERE is an immersive dining experience I Don’t Belong Here, participants eat alone in one of five carefully constructed sets that emulate different dining scenarios of loneliness, discomfort and nostalgia. I drew inspiration from the absurdist humor found in filmmaker Roy Andersson’s Living Trilogy series.
Whether it’s the claustrophobia of eating a stale sandwich in a bathroom stall or the agonizing tension of a family dining room, the unattractiveness of eating together recalls the beauty of eating alone.
